MY ALMA MATER

Updated: Feb 7, 2021

I was lucky to call Bridgewater State University my home for four years. At the time I had truly thought they were my best years, and there was absolutely no way it got any better than that. I got my degree in 2015 and set out into the real world. But not one day goes by where I don't think about everything that BSU has given me.

Countless memories, lifelong friendships, an amazing boyfriend, many lessons learned, a torn (and new!) ACL, waaaay too many pictures, an education that I am proud of, real life experiences I wouldn't trade for anything. The list could go on forever.

And now, they've given me business. They've given me support in small business. They've invested in their alumni.

Recently, I was contacted to photograph the 2019 Impact Awards through Student Involvement and Leadership. Immediately I knew I wanted to support them. I was heavily involved in Student Involvement in my years at BSU, from jobs to internships and community service. I met some of my best friends there and even won a few of those very awards when I was a student.

So, I drove down, met the current students and award recipients, and photographed all the smiles. All the memories came flooding back. The camaraderie, the support, the passion - I remember it all. It made me miss it, but it also made me feel so proud of where I came from. There are some incredible students there, who will graduate and go on to do very great things.

To have my alma mater support and promote my small business the way they did is a humbling experience. I am so happy to have gone down to help them out and I cannot wait to work with them again in the future.

Once a bear, always a bear. Live creatively, friends.
